michael kors
An American fashion designer who is notably known for his classic and chic approach to fashion, Michael Kors first studied fashion design at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York. After graduating, in his early 20s, Kors launched a womens' line at all the major department stores of the time including Saks Fifth Avenue, Lord & Taylor, Bergdorf Goodman & Neiman Markus. From there Kors was named the first women's ready-to-wear designer and creative director at Celine, a French fashion house. During his six year 'reign',, he created a series of ready-to-wear line and also introduced a men's line in 2002 before his departure.
The award-winning designer left Celine, and his personal clothing lines grew, with the MICHAEL Michael Kors and KORS Michael Kors lines in 2004. Many American women enjoyed the induction of KORS because it was a more reasonably-priced for the average American line than that of other lines in the fashion market. MICHAEL was his accessories line including both shoes and handbags to match his ready-to-wear clothing. Kors current boutiques can be found in 4 places worldwide, 2 in the U.S.; Beverly Hills & New York.
Jennifer Lopez, Catherine Zeta-Jones & Heidi Klum all have worn his designs, Zeta-Jones wore her during her Academy Nomination. Kors also created a customer creation for Jennifer Garner in 2006. His clothing also was used in the movie The Thomas Crown Affair where he dressed Rene Russo. Kors currently is active on the television show, Project Runway.
