18-year-old Russian designer Kira Plastinina presented Lublu, which for fall looked both trendy and sophisticated, but more sexy than ladylike. Lublu strikes a fine balance between edgy sex appeal and grown-up glamour. Ankle-wrap platform sandals tied the looks together.

Naeem Khan creates the most exquisite red carpet-worthy dresses that any woman, celebrity or not, would be ecstatic to wear. The beauty is in the details...look closely and you see how much work goes into the red patent embroidery, ostrich feathers, and drip and fringe beading. The movement in the dresses was amazing, and I was particularly taken by the feather-lined black and white graphic print dress.

Kudos to the models who walked the runway in quadruple stacked Christian Louboutin Daffodile pumps! A dramatic footwear choice that perfectly complemented the operatic gowns.

This was perhaps the most enjoyable show I attended this season at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. Adrienne Vittadini's design team, led by Christina Viviani, presented a 13-piece collection appropriate for all sizes and ages. The presentation, aptly titled “Modern Muses,” featured Niki Taylor, Carol Alt, Roshumba, Pat Cleveland, Frederique van Der Wal, Irina Pantaeva, and Carmen Dell’Orefice. Pat Cleveland wore a stunning charcoal knit wrap skirt and batwing top, Nikki Taylor wore camel flannel and Carol Alt wore a red hourglass knit dress. It was refreshing to see real women having fun and looking fabulous on the runway, after a week of rail-thin models taking New York by storm.

The Tibi Fall 2011 collection was inspired by the 90s, and featured touches of hot pink on beanie caps, dresses and sleeves. Towards the end of the show, a model wearing a red and black print dress fell and removed both her shoes before continuing. But that didn't stop her from smiling and therefore showcasing the power of this confidence-boosting collection. So many dresses to choose from - knit or satin, shift or sheath, mini or maxi, day or cocktail - just pick if you want it in a shimmer, a print, or an earthy neutral tone. Throw on a warm shearling coat, and you're good to go!

Long touted in fashion circles, Alejandro Ingelmo is the new star of shoes, a name that’s compared to Manolo Blahnik and Christian Louboutin. Not bad for someone who’s only been designing for about five years.

Alejandro Ingelmo for Chris Benz shoes channel both wearable art and ladies who lunch. Ingelmo provided closed toed, floral wedges that elevated the dramatic looks in the collection.

This line is typically associated with gowns, however for Fall 2011, Carlos Miele brought out a bunch of jumpsuits in punchy-colored velvet and luxe fur. The kimono-esque jumpsuits, draped on top and harem-style below, were all belted with velvet and accompanied by dramatic oversized head wraps. The severe braided ponytails showcased gorgeous necklines. The shoes were gold and black or gold and nude.

The Fall/Winter 2011/2012 collection takes us on an emotional journey thru Virtualand, a familiar place in our dreams and on our computer screens. Here Faux Reality reins and transports us in a cinematic domain where 70's excess glam divas morph into virtual modern heroines.

Giant prints of flora, reptile and abstract grid patterns look HyperReal on modern black silk shift dresses while graphic bold stripes enhance the 3D effect of minimalist coats, knit blazers, and tube dresses. Bands of black suede enhance the contours of deconstructed tweed jackets, skirts and day dresses for a Faux bondage, multidimensional effect while creating the illusion of digital grids.

Striped shoes, color blocked minimal bags, and knit and chiffon layering pieces animate a mostly black look...

Ladylike but a little funky, Lela Rose for Payless Fall 2011 shoes have a "substantial" feel to perfectly complement the straight, narrow silhouettes and angular shoulder designs of Lela' fall apparel looks.

The Allerton is a classic Mary Jane with a round toe atop a double-tiered sculptured platform sole. Chunky wood heel is enhanced by a unique fabric detail inlaid into the wood.

The Ashland is similar to the Allerton but is a wedge.

The Hubbard showcases a unique combination of textures and details. The style features an up-the-vamp upper that gives the pump a bootie-like silhouette with room for mixed materials, laser-cut perforation details, straps and buckles. The Hubbard features the double-tiered sculptured platform sole and a chunkier straight heel with contrasting inlaid fabric detail.

The Madison showcases a new mid-calf shaft height combined with an upper featuring a wool flannel panel detailed with mini square laser cut perforations. The bootie features the double-tiered sculptured platform sole and the chunkier straight heel with the contrasting inlaid fabric detail.

The Monroe is a classic Mary Jane dress pump with round toe, ankle strap and a basket weave detail at the heel counter that reveals the back of the lower ankle.

Coordinating handbags will also be featured in the Fall '11 collection, which is due in Payless stores and Payless.com in early September 2011.

Thank goodness Binetti had a presentation in The Box this season, and not a runway show. I got up close and personal with this beautiful collection. The details were amazing, just look at the shoes by Giuseppe Zanotti! I even spotted the Zanotti bow evening sandals I've been lusting after, and they look great on the foot. Models' hands were adorned with silver cuffs with stones and spiral wire rings, and their hair was coiffed in embellished wraps. The clothes gave a nod to the roaring 20's with sequins, silk fitted trousers, heavily draped silk blouses and feathered dresses. I've always felt I belonged back in the 1920s, and this morning I lived the dream, if only for five minutes. Take a look at the other pictures, I got quite a few footwear shots ;)

One of my favorite looks from the show...this collection features beautiful evening gowns in jewel tones and flowing fabrics, with structured bodices featuring intricate beading and details on some. These dresses might make you think of Georges Chakra.

This season touches on a personal note for Hoffman. As she explains, “My influence for this collection started with my husband, Javier Piñón, who's last body of work, entitled O Babalon, has been an enormous inspiration to me. We constantly inspire one another and because we are expecting our first child together, as artists we feel more creatively connected than ever.” O Babalon consists of collages built around depictions of an earth goddess, her attendants, priestesses and their mystical terrain. The juxtaposition of spiritual being and warrior, “where veil meets turban,” provides a jumping point for the collection’s aesthetic.

Hoffman’s Spiritual Warrior muse is on a constant journey, and her travels and methods of transportation provide touching points for the various exciting new original prints she has designed for this collection. Featuring strong, bold colors with a lot of red as well as jewel tones; prints include “Hunter” (Feather camouflage), “Arrows” (Tribal), “Wolfy” (Dreamcatcher), “Kiko” (Geometric) and “Traveler” (Zebra). Details such as tassles, braiding and embroidery accent the pieces. Hoffman also developed a new wool tweed, multi striped fabric. The collection features a lot of dresses and gowns in stretch silk georgette, chiffon and silk jersey, as well as chunky knits (mostly made in Peru) and coats and separates.

After presenting a breezy, wearable collection last season in an island vibe setting, Hoffman will return to her tribal roots for her Fall Presentation with a more editorial collection, featuring long gowns and bringing back bold color and dramatic styling. Nanette Lepore's Spring 2011 runway show was my favorite of the Spring 2011 Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.  It was a perfect mix of relaxed playfulness and sophistication.  Breezy dresses with low-slung waists were worn with structured lady bags, high-waisted shorts with bandeau tops and chunky heels.  The color palette - bright orange, coral and magenta paired with neutrals -, along with the exciting floral print and cabana stripes is everything I could wish for in a cheery springtime ready-to-wear collection.  Even the models' hair and makeup was effortlessly romantic: side-buns with straight parts and bright fuchsia lips.  I also loved her use of sequins for daywear, because everyone could use a little extra sparkle and drama next to the usual floral prints and beige.  Can we skip winter and go straight to spring, please?  View the finale video here.

The runway shoes are Nanette Lepore by Tribeca Design.  Featuring chunky block heels and thick straps, Lepore's spring 2011 pumps are both chic and comfortable, and come in lavender and metallic.  On the back of the heel is what looks like a metal mohawk, which adds some toughness to the otherwise sweet silhouette of the shoes.

Lepore dedicated her collection to her mom, who recently passed away, and at the end of the runway show the designer walked out holding her own daughter's hand.  Former Fugees singer John Forté composed music specifically for the spring collection, and performed live during the show.  Everyone seated received a copy of the CD, and I'm loving the tunes!

I'm noticing a tummy-focused trend on the Spring 2011 runways...from belly-baring tops to corseted pieces, the midsection seems to be the center of attention for designers come spring 2011.  Will you be baring your belly next season?
