When we got our first glimpse of Kate's shoes!
See newly-married Prince William and Kate Middleton slip into a gorgeous carriage and ride past the crowds back to Buckingham Palace.
This is when we got our first glance at the SHOES!!! Of course, not in this video clip...
I just spotted the shoes for the first time, and they look very classic from the quick look I got. Kate supposedly has four or five more pairs to wear throughout the festive day. Kate Middleton kept her wedding dress designer a secret since her engagement, and the world waited for her big reveal this morning. And what a reveal it was! The new Princess Catherine wore a gown designed by Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen. “Miss Middleton worked closely with Sarah Burton in formulating the design of her dress,” the Clarence House said. It is made from hand-cut English lace and French Chantilly lace. She is wearing matching shoes by Alexander McQueen. The train is over six feet long. “The seamed pleating of the dress breaks the volume and give a great sweeping set of arcs to the train,” said InStyle‘s Fashion Director Hal Rubenstein. “Love, love, love it!”

The bride’s earrings, made by Robinson Pelham, are diamond-set stylized oak leaves with a pear-shaped diamond set drop and a pavé set diamond acorn suspended in the center.
Middleton’s veil is made of layers of soft, ivory silk tulle with a trim of hand-embroidered flowers, which were embroidered by the Royal School of Needlework, where the lace appliqué for the bodice and skirt were hand-made as well.
Her veil is held in place by a Cartier ‘halo’ tiara, lent to Middleton by The Queen. Middleton’s ‘halo’ tiara was made by Cartier in 1936, and was purchased by The Duke of York (later King George VI) for his Duchess (later Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother) three weeks before he succeeded his brother as King.
"The British royal family announced Tuesday that the entire royal wedding will be live-streamed and then replayed on their official YouTube page."
Sweet!
Goodman was commissioned by the Royal Mint to create the shoes which are inspired by the saying "Something old, something new" (etc), the famous bridal poem which ends with the little-known line "and a silver sixpence in her shoe". She said of this lavish commission: "I was honoured to be asked by the Royal Mint to design these couture shoes to celebrate such a momentous event. I wanted to create something very classic and traditional using the silver sixpence, but also produce a design that was unique. Rather than placing the coin inside the shoe, I've taken a modern twist by embedding the lucky silver sixpence right on the front."
Kate Middleton's wedding dress may remain a closely guarded secret, but five famed shoe designers – including a ShoeHunting favorite, Giuseppe Zanotti - have revealed their visions for her Big Day. From precious gems and lace to silk and feathers, each created a fantasy shoe with the future Princess in mind.
"I wanted her shoes to match the classic and sophisticated elements of her [engagement] ring, but with a younger, modern edge," Guisseppe Zanotti tells WWD. "Jewelry for the feet is my DNA, so designing for a princess comes very naturally."
Casadei likened Middleton to "a 2011 Audrey Hepburn." He created "a waterfall of stones dancing down the foot. I can see Kate dancing all night in this 'new tango' heel."
René Caovilla accented his white satin sandals with marabou feathers, while Blahnik opted for sea pearls and organza lilies of the valley, a flower often found in the bouquets of British society brides. His shoe "represents springtime and everything fresh and new, which is what Kate Middleton is all about," he says.
The shoe by Georgina Goodman is an antique Welsh lace pump with Scottish seed pearls and pearl-inspired heel. “I wanted to create something special with an intrinsic emotional value; something old and at the same time mirroring Kate’s fresh modernity. ... I have aimed for a balance between history and femininity fitting the occasion; a kind of luxury recycling.”
Which shoe design do you think Kate Middleton should choose??
"A Hackbridge-based designer is vying for the right to create Kate Middleton’s Royal wedding shoes. Aruna Seth has made it down to the last three brands including world-renowned designer Jimmy Choo. The decision will not be officially made public until the big day on April 29."
Aruna Seth shoes are stunning! It would be absolutely fantastic if Kate chooses to go with a pair!
"Miss Seth said: “We’d love to be picked to be Royal Wedding shoe designer, it would be a truly magical experience. Kate Middleton’s bridal shoes should be simple, elegant with a hint of glamour to match her style, with a reasonable heel-height to be in proportion to her petite frame. Kate may have a four-minute walk up the carpeted aisle of the 900-year-old church of Westminster Abbey therefore comfort will be key...Aruna Seth shoes all contain a special plush padding providing extra comfort for the Royal day."
Aruna Seth suggests the ‘Byrony’ for Kate Middleton, with a few alterations to make it even more special.
