Here’s Katie Holmes out and about with husband/midget Tommy Cruise. Katie seems to have taken my advice and ditched the rolled up jeans. Yay! Now all she needs to do is ditch her husband, too, and she’ll be set!
Dear Katie Holmes,
I get the impression that you’re making an attempt at prying your way into fashion iconica. You seem to work very hard at looking fashionable… However the results end up looking like fashionista on the top, Huck Finn on the bottom. The jeans, Katie… Seriously, what the hell is this about? I get that you may be trying to “define your look”, but I suggest steering away from any look that compliments a raft on the Mississippi River.
Case study #1: Kim Kardashian
Here’s bootylicious socialite Kim Kardashian at the Matt Leinart 2008 Annual Celebrity Bowling Night in Hollywood the other night. Kim’s wearing a pair of cute white peep toes with her outfit. I think the shoes are great, but why did she feel the need to tie the ankle strap over her jeans? I’ve seen this done before (Sienna Miller, I’m looking in your direction) and everytime, it looks horrible. Everything looks messy and bunched up, and Kim is waaaaaaaaay too pretty for that.

Here’s Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, as they are dropped off by their mothership at Posh Beckham’s birthday party last night. I can only assume that they’re wearing sunglasses at night to block the glare off of Katie’s shiny, 70’s chesterfield dress. Either that, or it’s to protect their retinas from Posh’s amazing, super radiant fabulousness.
This is definitely one of those “Caption this!” moments.

Katie Holmes is looking fashionable, yet again. There’s something a little too perfectly polished about the “new and improved” Katie Holmes. She looks as if she stepped out of a giant box with words that point to a hidden button that state “Press here to Activate”. Creepy. I would almost dub her a “Stepford Wife”. Kind of coincidental because Tom Cruise’s ex-wife, Nicole Kidman, starred in The Stepford Wives.
The mystery that must be solved, my little shoe detectives, is the following:
Ali Larter and Katherine Heigl have both been spotted with classy grey pumps. Now, Katie Holmes is joining the grey pumps craze with her own pointed toe dark gray pumps paired with a cute silver dress.
Katie Holmes hired a new stylist because she looks like a completely different person. Holmes is entering her 30’s, the age of the Sex and the City women and she’s certainly looking more sophisticated “Manhattan chic” in this photo. With a cute new bob and a new wardrobe to match, Holmes is definitely becoming a mature adult, especially compared to her Dawson’s Creek days.
I don’t know when Katie Holmes became an alleged “style icon” (I think she’s got a ways to go before she can walk fashionably beside Kate Moss), but I will give her this: She has come a hell of a long way from playing tomboy Joey on Dawson’s Creek:

Katie Holmes is apparently shopping. I’m not really digging her “fire engine” skinny jeans; however, I have to say, her shoes are classy.
I know all of three things about Katie Holmes:
1. She was one of the pretentious teenagers on Dawson’s Creek.
2. She is Tom Cruise’s wife/possible beard/baby mamma.
3. She has impeccable taste in shoes.
