It seems that over-the-knee boots are going to be all the rage this fall. Yves Saint Laurent, Stuart Weitzman and Stella McCartney all have fresh thigh boot models this season, while luxury houses like Prada have their own interesting take on thigh boots with designer hip waders. Rick Owens has brought us a more avant garde models with his bizarre, thigh high flap wedge boots (also featured in the same Vogue spread), so it seems as though there’s something out there for everyone!
Both Kim Kardashian and Posh have been spotted rocking this trend. Kim’s looking fantastic, but Posh just looks BEAT! It’s much to my surprise that the almost always flawless Victoria Beckham looks a wee bit like she crawled out from underneath a can of Lindsay Lohan’s self tanner. Maybe David Beckham needs to take his stepford wife in for a tune up.
It took me a while before I was able to find a pair of thigh boots for a reasonable price. I did, eventually, find a pair on sale in a no name shoe store. Remember that thigh boots are often pricey due to the large amount of material used to make them; be aware that cheaper models will be made of inferior materials and may not last very long. You may have to shell out a few extra bucks for a good pair; if the deal seems too good to be true, you might be right!
My personal favourite thigh boot thus far is the Giuseppe Zanotti croc embossed thigh boot, however, most of us don’t have $1200 to burn. For a great leather thigh boot for a reasonable price, check out the Max Studio “Ursula”. To save some money, try the Diba “Wink”, which is made from synthetic materials.
