The September issue of American Vogue (featuring cover girl Charlize Theron) includes an interesting photo spread called Take Cover, showcasing what Vogue calls “statement-making gloves and tall boots”. One particular photo features a pair of models wearing haute couture hip waders (Hip waders. You heard me.) in some type of urban hunter setting. These heeled hip waders are by Prada (pictured), and walked down the luxury house’s Fall 2009 runway. Stiletto heeled Hussein Chalayan waders are also featured in the spread. Yep, hip wader stilettos. It’s kind of like A River Runs Through It, if Brad Pitt’s role were played by Posh Spice.
I suppose this comes on the heels of the rubber boot resurgence, or maybe this is Muicca Prada’s attempt at making global warming chic. When the ice caps melt, those $2,000 Prada hip waders will seem totally worth it. I mean, you’ll probably still be dead, but you’ll leave one fierce corpse.
