Do you have larger feet and have trouble finding fashionable footwear that fits? Well thanks to BarefootTess.com, you’ll never have to resort to flip-flops ever again! Barefoot Tess was founded by a woman who understands very well the hardship that larger-footed fashionistas face. Her daughter, named Tess, has a size 11 foot. Tess found that, whenever she found a shoe she liked at a store, there was never a pair in her size. Tess was tired of being told to look for something in the “comfort” shoe section. Seeing her daughter wearing flip-flops in the snow, Tess’ mother decided to take matters into her own hands. Today, she designs her own line of large shoes, and works with popular shoe companies to provide fun, fashionable shoes for women with large feet. Women and girls like Tess need never go barefoot again.

One time, I found the perfect pair of shoes – strappy black heels, they were perfect in every way. Except they didn’t have my size! But they had the next size down, so I bought them anyway, hoping, oh I don’t know – that they’d stretch or something. Well, the first time I wore them, I went out on a date and we went dancing. It was awful. The straps cut into my feet, and by the end of the night, my feet were so swollen and painful I could barely walk. Even worse, with my swollen feet, it was painfully obvious that the shoes were too small. I overheard several people talking about why would a girl wear such obviously too small of shoes – I was mortified!

About a year ago I got a new job that required me to completely revamp my wardrobe. I was shopping on a pretty tight budget – it was my first job after grad school – and against my better judgment decided I could skimp on some basic items. I purchased a pair of black patent (read “plastic”) ballet flats at a discount store. They were fairly comfortable, got the job done, and would last me until I could afford something of higher quality – or so I thought.
During my first week at work I wore them three times. On the third day, I was sitting in a meeting when I noticed a terrible smell coming up from under the table. My feet had been sweating in those plastic shoes and they were *stinky*! Unfortunately, I wasn’t the only one who noticed. A coworker commented on it, in the middle of the meeting, and soon everyone was talking about it. I tried to joke along with the others, playing like it wasn’t me, but I wanted to melt into the floor! Needless to say, I threw out the flats that night. Lesson learned: don’t skimp on the shoes!
