Nina Ricci Fall 2009 Stilt-like Shoes Defy Gravity

ShoeBlog spotted these Nina Ricci shoes that defy gravity on nymag.com

Victoria Beckham made a splash in the fashion world when she wore heel-less hoofers last year. Well it seems that she is a fashion oracle, because Nina Ricci recently featured these heel-less, extreme platform shoes in her Fall 2009 runway show. The sky-high height combines platform and stilettos, adding nearly eleven inches to the already leggy models. I find these shoes to be outlandish and awkward-looking ,but the effect these shoes had on the overall appearance of the outfits in the collection is impressive. The models seemed to float down the runway with even lengthier, more wisp-like silhouettes. Check out photos from the show at FabSugar.com, and see a video clip of the models walking in them at TheToeZone.

The heel doesn’t touch the ground, but rather hovers mid-air. Despite how awkward these look, I’m happy to report that not a single model fell while wearing them. Apparently, the platforms are heavily weighted toward the toe to prevent you from falling backward.

What do you think of these creative shoes?
