Heels hit new heights with sexy struts and broken ankles for all

by Stiletto Pumped on October 16, 2008

This past spring and summer, actress Gwyneth Paltrow gained a reputation for wearing killer high heels – many of which reached as high as seven inches, like these by Guiseppe Zanotti.

Heels have been getting higher and higher over the past year, with super high heels from Chanel that caused models to tumble down the runway, and the “Victoria” platform from Giambattista Valli – named for, of course, Victoria Beckham. Not surprising for a woman who teeters around on shoes like these.

Scary stuff!

But somehow kinda sexy, no?

Super high platform heels are the trend these days, with retailers selling higher heels than ever. Many six and seven inch heels are being sold by top designers – and Christian Louboutin plans on including an eight inch heel for his new collection.

“I hear they can be painful, but women keep asking for them,” says the French designer.

Painful, indeed. Some women are even resorting to expensive cosmetic fillers to keep the balls of their feet plump for about nine months at a time! I don’t know that I would resort to those kinds of extremes, but I do like many of the super-high designs – and would love to wear a pair, just for one day. What do you think of this trend?
