Garbage boots: Calvin Klein Hannah booties
This season has brought us a variety of drawstring tied boots and booties:
I have one question for Calvin Klein, the creator of this, the Hannah bootie, and that question is this: Why?
There are so many wonderful ways one can close a boot. Sleek zippers! Cute buckles! Detailed laces!
…Drawstrings? This is the stiletto boot equivalent to track pants, no?
I recently saw Sarah Jessica Parker in InTouch wearing a similar style boot on the set of the Sex and the City movie. Sex and the City brought us Carrie Bradshaw and Manolo Blahnik, as well as some truly, horrendous fashions.
This abhorrent drawstring bootie is definitely one of those fashions.
Your ankles are just the wrong spot for gaudy drawstrings like these. It will make your outfit look messy - like a pair of leather garbage bags sitting on the side of the road, waiting for raccoons to tear them apart.
These boots are a fine example of hobo chique - in that, if wearing them doesn’t work out, you can always use them to carry your bottles marked XXX.
