Heeless shoes for Posh and Uma; rest of world prefers not falling

What you are seeing is correct. These high heels have no absolutely no heels whatsoever.

These are $3,600 heeless designer shoes from Antonio Berardi. They are rapidly becoming hot with celebrities, as Posh Beckham, Uma Thurman and Gwyneth Paltrow have all allegedly scooped up pairs.

The designer claims that it isn’t as easy as it looks to topple backwards in these puppies, however, you do need to be careful how you walk. Obviously, you need to step on the balls of your feet, as oppose to the heel. Berardi claims “When you walk, it is almost on tiptoe. You look really dainty.”

And probably really stupid.

I can’t see how walking in these can look, or feel, in any way natural. The platform sole does appear to be very sturdy and supportive of the arch, however, methinks walking around on one’s tippy toes all day would be very irritating and may cause serious pain. As I wrote that, I could hear Tyra Banks’ voice in my head, saying “Fashion is about pain! True models use the pain, they push past the pain!”

While anyone who’s seen Vivienne Westwood heels would argue that statement is true, I can’t see this trend having a pret-a-porter line anytime soon. They just don’t look wearable. Very artistic and avant garde, but not wearable. They say Posh bought a pair, but I haven’t seen her in them. I imagine they’re one of the millions of pair of shoes she throws in the closet and brings out for show and tell when Roberto Cavalli comes over to discuss how fabulous she is.

The idea of the heeless shoe is not new, and if you’re looking to try this trend, check out United Nude’s collection. United Nude has a whole line of “heeless” shoes that look a little more supportive, and won’t set you back four grand.

So what do we all think about these heeless heels? Would you try them if you had the cash to burn?

  2. Just because you’re not coordinated enough to walk in heeless shoes, doesn’t mean the rest of the world is.

I love my heeless shoes. I wear them proudly, and even better, can make them myself without being a multimillion dollar designer.

  3. this is a dumb idea
