Luichiny “Annabel” takes retro revival to new depths of hell

This is a shoe that has acquired the baffling description: Sweater boot

Yes, sweater boot. As in a sweater - and a boot - in the same article of clothing.

This is the Luichiny “Annabel”, a once cute mary jane that was attacked by some kind of fashion Leatherface. It’s really quite sad, because it would be a nice shoe if it didn’t have a woolen sock sewn into it. Who wears a big wooly sock with mary janes?! Extras in Flashdance, that’s who. I don’t understand this slouchy sock/leg warmer revival. It creates cankles where there are none, and makes the wearer look a wee bit like a clydesdale. I know everyone is saying “Retro is in!” but there are some retro styles that should just stay dead. Leggings, I’m looking in your direction.

While we’re fusing socks and shoes together, why don’t we just fuse the socks to some leggings and the leggings to an oversized, neon t-shirt - like big, onesies pajamas with footies, from 1985. This is where this type of fashion logic will take us, people. I can see Lindsay Lohan pre-ordering one of those right now. I’m not even sure if Lohan is old enough to remember the eighties. She musn’t be, for if she actually saw it the first time around, she wouldn’t think it was so cool now.

I do quite like the shoe portion of the “sweater boot”, however, I browsed what Luichiny has to offer, and I can’t seem to find a model of this shoe without the sock. Can anyone help me out with this? What do you think of the Luichiny “Annabel” sweater boot?
