- My Icon Inspiration: Dita Von Teese
The word “stripper” may bring to mind gaudy hair & makeup with cheap thongs, whereas “striptease” conjures up images of pin-up queens who do it as a more tasteful art form. Dita Von Teese is the perfect model for tasteful and high-class stripping. The burlesque dancer and fetish star has currently become the new face of Wonderbra. She will be designing her own limited edition lingerie.
So, when Vogue reveals that “Striptease” is a trend, they’re not talking about a drunken Spring Break in Cancun, but rather the encompassing theme of a classy French boudoir.
Think: class, romance, femininity, silk, slips, robes, pink, pastels, nudes, black and white. Also, try the classic trench coat that looks like you’re wearing nothing (or silky lingerie) underneath.
What better shoe to pair with the “Striptease” look than curvy stiletto peep-toe pumps? Peep-toe pumps are definitely a trend that has been able to successfully transition from Fall/Winter ‘07 to Spring/Summer ‘08. Personally, I feel that peep-toe pumps are not a trend, but rather are an essential basic reminiscent of legendary movie starlets.

Oh Deer! Judy in red is the perfect pin-up star’s pump. With curves at the right places and a sexy stiletto heel, Oh Deer! Judy will make anyone who slips into these shoes feel playful and seductive. Oh Deer! has been known for creating alluring shoes that look like they’re straight out of a screen siren’s closet.
What do you think of the “Striptease” look? Does the fine line between the “stripper” and Vogue’s “striptease” even exist?
