L.A.M.B. “Darrel”: Damn, you’ve got some wicked style

Yesterday I posted about Gwen Stefani’s L.A.M.B. label and some of the horrendous specimens it has vomitted in the fashion world’s diamond encrusted toilet. I also said that I believed that Gwen would get better at her fashion endevours as time went on, and today, I have evidence to support that theory:

This is the L.A.M.B. “Darrel”, a shoe that does exactly what Gwen and L.A.M.B. set out to do. This shoe mixes edgy street fashion with haute couture looks, and, unlike some of Gwen’s other designs, is successful at doing so. The “Darrel” has a beautiful, tall shape and elegant metallic colouring contrasted against a funky patchwork design with edgy stitching.

This shoe hasn’t quite pulled off a real hybridization of street and high fashion, but these diamonds in the rough are what keep me coming back to browse through L.A.M.B.’s products. It seems that for every hideous, cankle-making clodhopper I find, there’s a truly unique, stylish and versatile pump right behind it. Pumps, so far, have appeared to be her forte. There’s always been an obvious Vivienne Westwood and Betsey Johnson influence in Gwen’s work, but as time has gone by, her work has begun to look less and less like she’s trying to be them, to her advantage.

The “Darrel” has a towering 5″ heel and leather uppers. The sexy curves of this shoe make it truly irresistible. I think Gwen had those “super-hot females” in mind when she made this shoe. What do you think? Are you as hypnotized by it’s foxiness as I am?
