A while ago, I posted about Oprah and her love for the slouchy, Ugg Classic Crochet. Today, we learn that the reach of the crochet Ugg goes far beyond powerful talk show hosts, to the feet of pregnant socialites:

This is the very pregnant Nicole Richie out in California wearing the Ugg Classic Crochet Tall. The pint-sized Nicole usually looks cute, even when pregnant - however, I think that has more to do with the fact that she resembles a character out of A Bug’s Life than do to her fashion sense.

I don’t like Uggs. I dislike the crochet Ugg ten times more. It’s not just fact that she’s wearing these slouchy Uggs, it’s the fact that they appear to be two sizes too big. Is this just how these things fit? They look difficult to walk in. I guess I wouldn’t have to worry about my shoes fitting properly if I were a socialite who’s daily walking mostly consisted of walking from the SUV, to the Starbucks to get her crappa-frappa-latte, and back to the SUV again.

I’m forgiving Nicole for this because she’s pregnant and pregnant women can wear whatever the hell they want on their feet. This is because carrying an unborn squirt around all the time must be hard on the feet, and because many pregnant women can’t even see their shoes in the first place. Maybe this was Nicole’s problem.

However, in the future, I would prefer if Nicole kept to the less fugly Uggs, like the Ugg Joplin:

Possibly named after the late Janis Joplin, this boot is perfect for Richie, who’s casual style has often mimicked Joplin and her bohemian look.

These crochet Uggs confuse me a little, so if anyone owns a pair, let me know what they’re like to walk around in and what you think about Richie’s own slouchy Uggs!
