Bruno Magli Latifah: Psychedelic pimpletto pump boots

Every so often, I get sick of plain, brown or black boots. Particularly in the winter, when things are so drear and drab outside. I sometimes crave some colour in my step to brighten up my day. However, wearing colourful boots can be a difficult task. Boots are bigger and have more surface area than regular shoes - so it’s easy to go over the line. You need to be careful when colourizing your boots, so you can be sure to avoid making a mistake like this:

These boots are by Le Silla, and you can see them featured on Behind the Fug: The story of the 1980’s Vomit Boot.

This is a fine example of when bold colours go bad. These look like they belong in a retro 80’s fashion show in space. In fact, I think I may have seen Miss Piggy wearing these in a “Pigs in Space” skit, once. And do I see cut outs at the top of this patent leather horror show? Ugh!

Le SIlla completely overuses colour on this model (as oppose to overusing pythons), and mixes it with an unholy amount of shiny, shimmery fug. I think my retinas are beginning to burn.

So let’s look at a boot that uses colour for a sexy, bold look:

This is the Bruno Magli Latifah. Bruno Magli, who’s namesake is the legendary Italian shoe designer, is a label well known for their luxurious, high quality shoes. This boot uses similar colours of different shades to create a bold, eye-catching look. These boots use colour tastefully, so you can pair them with skinny jeans or a foxy mini, without looking like the gay disco threw up on your feet.

The Bruno Magli Latifah boots are suede and made in Italy. What does everyone think of these psychedelic pimpletto pump boots? Fug or fab? Let us know!

  1. Bruno Magli’s Latifah reminds me of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. However, I’d wear them. Maybe just once.
