Steve Madden’s Most Wanted: the Chap
These haute booties capture the essence of the holiday season.
Steven by Steve Madden has concocted “Chap” which elevates its wearer by a whopping 4.25 inches. If you look closely, you can observe that it even has a hidden .75 inch platform/toe rise.
“Chap” is a replica of the higher priced Christian Louboutin’s “Emily”, minus Louboutin’s signature red lacquered sole. Many argue whether the “Chap” or “Emily” is a crime of fashion or the hit of the season. The highly controversial shoe has been seen as both.
Personally, there is something addictingly hideous about the design which somehow makes it pleasing to my eye. Something about the design works. It could be the exaggerated heel height, adorable button detailing, or its nearly comical presence. Let’s face it, the shoe is loud and definitely makes a statement, whether it’s a faux pas or not. I see it as an “almost” runway shoe sported by the likes of gorgeously confident Linda Evangelista.
Pair these gorgeous leather booties with tights or trousers for an ultra stylish look that will surely garner looks from all around. “Chap” is certainly a boot that screams “fashionista approaching”. With a mixture of vintage and modern, “Chap” offers a silhouette that instantaneously oozes risque and demure.
This is a distinct holiday shoe that can be dressed up or dressed down. It certainly takes a bold, daring, and confident woman to pull these off.
“Chap” retails at $150 (versus $925 for the Louboutin’s!).
