The Tall and the Skinny: UGG Boots

The UGG boot is like the Juicy Couture velour tracksuit.

Why? You never actually thought they’d stick around for this long, but somehow they’ve pried their way into become fashion classics. Beware: when paired together, they merge to create every sorority girl’s unofficial uniform. On a more positive note, UGG has introduced taller, more slender designs this season.

Though still maintaining their signature sheepskin lining, Ugg offers designs unique to the typical, bulbous “Classic Short Boot”. The “Classic Short Boot” has a rounder toe with a heavy and somewhat infantile design.

Another signature boot is the “UGG Crochet” which has become one of “Oprah’s Favorite Things.” The “Crochet” is a comfort shoe, reminiscent of everything comfy- from hot chocolate to thick blankets in the middle of a cold winter.

Unlike sorority shoes and comfort shoes, UGG also carries boots with design and sophistication.

My design award goes to the “Rina Ribbon Boot”. Looking like a boot exposed to Midas’ touch, the shoe is a mixture of luxury and daintiness. The boot exudes luxury for its gold leather material and daintiness for its rounded toe and brown ribbon that wraps upwards to end in a girly bow. The “Rina” retails at $225.00.

My sophistication award goes to the “Sandra Wedge Boot”. The skinny black boot is in stylish suede, topped with a genuine sheepskin cuff. I simply adore the slim wedge, as opposed to the typical clunky wedge found in many other shoes. The “Sandra Wedge” has been the closest thing I have been able to find in comparison to the Prada “Daily” suede wedge boots which retail at a whopping $640.00. The only thing the Prada “Daily” is lacking is the signature sheepskin fur. For all you savvy shoppers, the UGG “Sandra” retails for almost half the retail of Prada: $325.00
